The Artists Hand Gallery presents:
The Artists Hand Gallery is now offering classes, for the month of September!
The Artists Hand Gallery is kicking off its Workshop season with Art classes at the Indiana Free Library, in the Community room on the second floor. Classes will be held Saturdays in September, beginning 9/11 through 9/25, with the final Class being October 2, 2010. Class times are as follows; K to 3rd grades will be from 10 Am to 12:00 PM, and grades 4th through 6th will be from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM.
All students will work with Roxanne Hotaling, an experienced teacher from last year. Younger students will explore, The Five W's and One H: Storytelling Through Sketchbooks". Rudyard Kipling's,
"I keep six honest serving men, they taught me all I knew; their names are what and why and when and how and where and who", act as questions that lead to the creation of an idea. Students will use these questions to tell stories through their sketchbooks. Instead of step-by-step drawing, students will learn to "look" beyond what they know to discover there is more than the "known" symbols they draw.
The older students will explore the Classical Elements- “Building Form with Nature" Students will spend this four week class exploring the classical elements earth, air, fire, and water. Focus will be made on researching the historical and the artistic use of these elements, sketching and planning ideas using the four elements, and creating form as an artist.
